APAC’s Let’s Vote! Initiative – Volunteers Needed

Dear All,

We have been busy! In early May, APAC received an Official Citation from the Connecticut General Assembly in celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We appreciate members of the newly formed AAPI Caucus for introducing this recognition and for welcoming us on the Senate Floor at the Capitol for the occasion. We also participated in the successful AAPI 5K organized by API Wellness in West Hartford on May 18 and had a great time at the Night Market organized by the St. Anre-Dung Lac Parish in West Hartford this past Saturday.

This summer, we are launching APAC’s Let’s Vote! Initiative (funded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s Civic Engagement and Get Out the Vote Grant) and we need your help! Please consider volunteering to register AAPI voters at community events throughout summer and fall. You can also volunteer to be “voting captains” and help eligible voters in your networks register to vote. There will be a training for volunteers on Thursday, June 13 from 5:30-7pm at the Welles-Turner Library in Glastonbury and over Zoom (dinner provided for in person attendees). We accept volunteers from high school age and up. Please see the flyer attached for more info and rsvp here

This month, our APAC general meeting will be held in person at the Welles-Turner Library in Glastonbury and also on Zoom for those who can’t make it to Glastonbury on Thursday, June 13, 7-8pm.

Thank you and Happy Summer!

Quan Tran (APAC’s Co-Chair)
